Nature Photography Escape: Camping in North Devon at Broad Park Camping and Glamping

This weekend marked our first camping trip of 2024, a delayed venture due to England's temperamental weather. Camping has always been our go-to for a quick disconnect, a return to nature's simplicity that leaves us feeling rejuvenated.

Our destination, Broad Park Camping and Glamping, nestled just outside Biddeford in North Devon, proved to be a gem of a campsite. With its purpose-built flat pitches and all the amenities one could ask for, not to mention the charming company of alpacas and goats, it quickly became one of our favourites. Situated conveniently close to the captivating shooting spots along the North Devon coastline, Broad Park Camping and Glamping was the perfect launching pad for our weekend escapade.

Day 1

After a restful night's sleep, we kicked off Day 1 with a leisurely beach walk and a stop at the highly recommended Meraki Coffee Co. Despite the lacklustre lighting for landscape photography, I seized the chance to refine my portrait skills with Millie and Mr G. Our day wrapped up with a satisfying meal from the renowned Nach Ho! in Westwood Ho! and a series of delightful street shots along the bustling seafront.

Day 2

As we packed up camp, we set our sights on Broadsham Woods, a lesser-known destination, in search of blooming bluebells. Yet, as any seasoned photographer knows, woodland photography presents its own unique set of challenges, particularly in finding compositions amidst nature's chaos—a skill I continue to hone. Despite the harsh midday light thwarting our woodland photography, we enjoyed a leisurely walk with stunning views, culminating in a breathtaking overlook of Black Church Rock, where I managed to capture a few striking shots.
